MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - The statement by Slovak authorities suggesting that Russian diplomats were expelled from Slovakia over violations committed in the issuance of visas by the Slovak consulate general in St. Petersburg looks "unprofessional and unseemly," the Russian embassy in Bratislava said.
"The statements by Slovak officials and reports from local media outlets which connect the decision to expel our diplomats to a story about visa issuance by the Slovak consulate general in St. Petersburg sound confusing, to say the least, and look unprofessional and unseemly," the embassy said on Tuesday.
"Despite these unfriendly actions, Russia reaffirms its commitment to the long-standing tradition of pragmatic and mutually respectful relations between our countries and peoples," the embassy said.
