Belarusian FM tells Latvian counterpart of attempts at foreign meddling in situation in Belarus

MINSK. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei has briefed his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkevics over the phone about attempts at foreign interference in the domestic political situation in Belarus.

"Makei's counterpart was informed in detail about the situation in Belarus in the wake of the presidential election and about attempts at foreign interference in the internal political situation in the country," the press service for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

Rinkevics, in turn, shared the Latvian authorities' vision of these ongoing processes, the press service said.

"The foreign ministers also discussed the prospects for developing Belarus-EU relations and reiterated the importance of preserving channels of communication and further maintaining the dialogue between Minsk and Brussels at various levels," it said.
