KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 24 (Interfax) - The research companies established within the Russian Armed Forces several years ago have started yielding results, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"We have achieved quite a good result regarding young researchers and young designers this year. This concerns our research companies. This concerns the foundation laid four or five years ago. It's started yielding results now," Shoigu said on the Zvezda television channel on Monday.
The idea to engage young men having talent for research and invention in forming research companies has started yielding results, he said.
In particular, some young scientists "have constructed an engine working on three types of fuel, which can be employed in different items of machinery," Shoigu said.
"This also includes testing equipment capable of operating virtually on an ongoing basis, aircraft equipment, optical aiming systems, and a lot of other things," Shoigu said.
