Belarusian police detain 51 protesters on Tuesday - Interior Ministry

MINSK. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Fewer than 5,000 people took part in protests in Belarus on Tuesday, and 51 protesters were detained for committing administrative offences, the Belarusian Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

"A total of 51 people have been detained before judicial hearings of administrative cases," the ministry said.

The overall number of participants in protests in different parts of the country did not exceed 4,800, it said.

The largest numbers of demonstrators were recorded in Minsk, Brest, and Molodechno.
