MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Washington should refrain from interfering in Belarus' affairs, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax on Tuesday.
According to earlier media reports citing a representative of the U.S. administration, the U.S. could consider anti-Russian sanctions in the event of interference by Russia in Belarusian affairs.
"The U.S. should itself refrain from meddling in the internal affairs of the country and regard things going on there as circumstances which our Belarusian allies and neighbors can handle by themselves," Ryabkov said.
"Regarding sanction threats, this isn't the first, nor will it be the last, time. Again and again, we see that there's nothing left but sanctions in the U.S. foreign policy tool kit. Regrettably, what we see happening is that the U.S. foreign policy is getting more primitive, and there's only one answer - sanctions - to any question, any problem," he said.
"I believe that this policy starts raising serious questions, to say the least. And fundamentally, an increasing rejection in the international community. And the U.S. need to draw lessons from what is happening," Ryabkov said.
