Russia may soon criminalize calls for alienation of its territories - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Russia may soon criminalize the alienation of its territories and calls for such alienation, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

"If I remember correctly, Article 67 of our country's Constitution, the new part of this article declares any actions aimed at the alienation of territories from our country inadmissible. Not just such actions but also their discussion are inadmissible, which means there is a relevant ban whose violation entails criminal liability," Medvedev said at a virtual meeting with delegates of the all-Russian patriotic assembly OstroVa 2020.

"It is highly probable that such norms will be endorsed in the near future," he said.

The ban does not apply to border delimitation, Medvedev said.
