Merkel confident of findings by Bundeswehr lab on presence of Novichok-class poison in Navalny

BERLIN. Sept 2 (Interfax) - An agent belonging to the Novichok group of warfare agents in Russian opposition Alexei Navalny's system has been detected definitely, and there can be no doubt about this, German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel said.

"Charite Hospital authorized the Bundeswehr laboratory to examine various samples of Mr. Navalny. The Bundeswehr's special laboratory has found clearly that Alexei Navalny has fallen victim to an attack using a chemical nerve agent belonging to the Novichok group. This poison has been identified in the samples undoubtedly," Merkel told journalists in Berlin on Wednesday.
