Moscow expects to get info on agent found in Navalny in Germany, as it's instrumental to Russian inquiry - Peskov

MOSCOW. Sept 3 (Interfax) - Moscow expects Berlin to inform it of the toxic agent that, according to the conclusions of German experts, Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny was poisoned with, as this could help in carrying out the relevant preliminary inquiry in Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"We heard from Berlin yesterday that a toxic agent was definitively identified; moreover, it was stated that this is a chemical nerve agent used in warfare," Peskov said.

"If this is so, our investigators carrying out pre-investigative procedures should know what exactly our German partners have detected and identified," Peskov said, adding that "we will hopefully receive this information."

Asked whether Russian President Vladimir Putin asked law enforcement agencies to open a criminal investigation into Navalny's hospitalization, Peskov replied, "As a matter of fact, the Interior Ministry is carrying out a pre-investigative procedure, and there's no need for presidential instructions to do that."
