Russian long-range aircraft to strike on targets at training range near Brest

MINSK. Sept 23 (Interfax) - Russian long-range bombers will strike on targets at a training range in the Brest region of Belarus on Wednesday, in the course of the Slavic Brotherhood 2020 Russian-Belarusian exercise, Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense Commander Igor Golub said.

"Today, we are planning to practice a tactical episode at the 201st Ruzhany aviation training range with the participation of numerous aircraft. The tactical aviation drill will accomplish the mission of air support to forces in defense. Russian long-range aircraft and our Su-30 fighters and Su-25 and Yak-130 attack aircraft will strike on designated targets," the Belarusian Defense Ministry quoted Golub as saying.

Russian long-range aircraft already took part in the exercise in Belarus on Tuesday - two Tupolev Tu-160 strategic bombers flew along the southwestern, western, and northwestern borders of Belarus, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The Russian pilots practiced operative interaction with the Belarusian Air Forces' fighters to provide air support to the joint tactical group operating on the ground.
