Belarusian Foreign Ministry describes Macron-Tikhanovskaya contacts as 'hasty', devoid of 'practical value'

MINSK. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The negotiations between French President Emmanuel Macron and former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya that took place in Vilnius on Tuesday will not have any practical value for Belarus, Belarusian Foreign Ministry press secretary Anatoly Glaz said.

"Speaking from the professional angle, I'd say that one should not entertain an illusion. Hasty contacts with strange subjects do not and will not have any practical value," Glaz said in response to Interfax's question.

"Diplomacy has a sufficient range of acknowledged and civilized instruments, which could be used to maintain dialogue and defend interests; these tools are much more efficient than the attempts at blatant pressure and imposition of one's will on the neighbor," he said.

"The agenda of French President Macron's visit to the Lithuanian capital is not quite surprising. In fact, there is a strong feeling that Lithuania has a new attraction which everyone is compelled to see," Glaz said.
