Yerevan planning to rise defense expenses by $80 mln to prevent military assault

YEREVAN. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Armenia is planning to boost its defense spending by almost 40 billion drams (over $82 million), according to the relevant draft law published on the parliament's website; the parliament will hold an emergency session on October 6.

The 2020 state budget must be amended to prevent an immediate threat of military assault on Armenia, facilitate the natural activities of the armed forces and local governments, and maintain public security, the draft bill says.
