Intensive fighting in Karabakh to become catastrophe for region - Armenian defense minister

YEREVAN. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Further intensive fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh will have catastrophic consequences for the entire region, Armenian Defense Minister David Tonoyan said during a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy in Yerevan.

"Tonoyan has presented to the U.S. ambassador the military action, speaking of direct unprecedented involvement of Turkey and its assistance to Azerbaijan. He said the development of the situation at the current rate will be catastrophic to the whole region," the Armenian Defense Ministry press service said.

The U.S. ambassador stated concerns about unresolved humanitarian issues in the period of military action in the region.
