Armenian Defense Ministry denies firing upon Azerbaijan's territory

YEREVAN. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Armenian forces have not fired upon Azerbaijan's territory, and Baku's statements alleging this serve to rationalize the resumption of hostilities, Armenian Defense Ministry press secretary Shushan Stepanyan said.

"It is obvious that, in spreading mendacious information on the firing upon Azerbaijan's territories, Baku is trying to lay the propagandistic groundwork for resuming the fighting," Stepanyan wrote on her Facebook account.

Azerbaijan is ignoring the calls by the international community and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs on halting the fighting as soon as possible, she said.

Armenia has not fired upon Azerbaijan's territory, she said.

Azerbaijani media reported earlier that the Armenian Armed Forces fired artillery upon the city of Tartar on Tuesday.
