Jabhat al-Nusra fighters migrating to Karabakh - Foreign Intelligence Service head Naryshkin (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Fighters of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group (banned in Russia) are migrating to Nagorno-Karabakh, according to Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin.

"To the knowledge of the Foreign Intelligence Service, mercenaries from international terrorist groups fighting in the Middle East, such as Jabhat al-Nusra, Firka Hamza and Sultan Murad, in addition to extremist Kurdish groups are actively migrating to the conflict zone. These are hundreds or even thousands of radicals hoping to make money on the new Karabakh war," Naryshkin said in a statement released by the Foreign Intelligence Service.

"We have no doubt that the conflicting sides will eventually stop using force and will sit down at the negotiating table with the assistance of the international community," Naryshkin said.

"However, we cannot help but be concerned by the possible transformation of the South Caucasus into a new theater of operations of international terrorist groups, from where fighters might start penetrating states neighboring Azerbaijan and Armenia, including Russia," he said.
