YEREVAN. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The Armenian National Assembly passed amendments to the state budget law, which envisages a rise in military expenses by 40 billion drams (over $80 million) amid the war in Karabakh on Wednesday.
Eighty-nine deputies voted for the amendments, no one voted against it.
Hostilities will have a negative impact on economic activity.
The law introducing amendments to the 2020 Armenian state budget law says it seeks to provide the most favorable conditions for the mobilization of the Armed Forces and Armenian economy in an effort to prevent a direct danger of an armed assault on Armenia, as well as for ensuring the normal activity of state authorities and local self-government bodies, individuals and legal entities, and for protecting the security and life of the population amid the martial law.
According to the amendments, the military spending will be increased by 40 billion drams that is prompted by the current military situation.
