YEREVAN. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Argishti Karamyan has been relieved of his duties as director of Armenia's National Security Service at the proposal of the country's prime minister and in accordance with a presidential decree.
"Acting upon the prime minister's proposal, Argishti Karamyan shall be relieved of the post of director of the National Security Service," according to the presidential decree.
Karamyan, 29, was appointed the head of Armenia's National Security Service on June 8, 2020.
Mikael Ambartsumyan, most recently National Security Service deputy director, has become the service's acting head.
Karamyan has become the third National Security Service director replaced since Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan came to power in the country in 2018. Karamyan's predecessors in this post were Artur Vanetsyan and Eduard Martirosyan.
