BISHKEK. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev urged Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov to step down at a rally of his supporters in Bishkek on Friday.
"Jeenbekov has no right to be the president, he is responsible for casualties on the square," Atambayev said.
"Sooronbai must leave," he said.
He urged the supporters to continue the rally on the central square of Bishkek.
Thousands of protesters led by Atambayev are marching towards the city center without any impediment.
"A number of rallies are taking place on the central square of Bishkek, and we would like to support them, "Atambayev said.
"All I want is peace in my country," he said.
Former Kyrgyz Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, who was released from the penitentiary in the early hours of October 6, another former Kyrgyz Prime Minister and leader of the Respublika party Omurbek Babanov, and parliament deputies from the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan are marching together with Atambayev.
