YEREVAN. Oct 16 (Interfax) - The Armenian Defense Ministry has informed Iran of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic's (NKR) readiness to deliver "devastating strikes" upon Azerbaijani forces in Karabakh close to the border with Iran.
Meeting with Iranian military attache to Armenia Bahman Sadeghin on Friday, chief of the Armenian Defense Ministry's Defense Policy and International Cooperation Directorate Levon Ayvazyan informed him of concentrations of Azerbaijani troops and their activities along the border with Iran, the press service for the Armenian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"Despite numerous calls by the Armenian side, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are continuing to concentrate and act along the border with Iran, thus using the border as a shield. Iran has once again been informed of Armenia's calls on Azerbaijan to move military actions to a safe distance away from the Iranian border," the press service said.
Ayvazyan said on behalf of the NKR Defense Army that, if the situation in that part of the conflict zone remains unchanged, the NKR "reserves the right to deliver devastating strikes upon the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in that area, and the Azerbaijani military-political leadership will bear responsibility for the consequences," it said.
The hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh have continued since September 27.
