Zelensky initiates Oct 25 poll on whether to cut number of Rada seats, legalize medical cannabis, use Budapest memorandum guarantees

KYIV. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited the country's citizens to express their opinions on the day of local elections on October 25, on whether they support the idea of reducing the number of Verkhovna Rada members from 450 to 300.

Other questions for the survey proposed by the president include whether to legalize the use of marijuana for medical purposes and whether to raise at the international level the possibility of enforcing the security guarantees envisaged in the Budapest memorandum.

"These are the final three questions for the poll: Is it necessary to decrease the number of deputies in the Verkhovna Rada to 300? Do you support the legalization of marijuana to relieve pain in severely ill patients? Should Ukraine raise the issue at the international level of using the security guarantees outlined in the Budapest memorandum?" Zelensky said on Facebook on Friday.

As reported earlier, on October 13, Zelensky announced national polls in the country on the day of local elections on October 25, in which citizens will be asked five questions.

On October 14, Zelensky proposed that Ukrainians, as the first question in the nationwide poll, express their opinions on whether it is necessary to impose life imprisonment in the country for especially high-level corruption.

On October 15, he proposed one more question for the survey: whether Ukrainians support the idea of creating a free economic zone in Donbas.
