WASHINGTON. Oct 16 (Interfax) - The United State Department of State has supported the European Union's decision to impose sanctions on Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin.
"We support the EU's strong action against Yevgeniy Prigozhin. Prigozhin is closely connected to the Russian government and has a long history of directing, facilitating, and supporting dangerous, violent and destabilizing activity, especially in Libya," U.S. Department of State spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said on Twitter on Friday.
The EU has imposed sanctions on Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin over his alleged involvement in the supply of weapons to Libya, according to the document published by the EU Official Journal on Thursday.
The restrictive measures include a ban on traveling to the EU and a freeze on assets.
The EU has imposed restrictions on 20 persons and 19 companies over Libya as of this date.
