Armenian FM to visit U.S. even despite Pashinyan's statement on absence of diplomatic solution to Karabakh problem - ministry

YEREVAN. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan will visit the United States and meet with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo even despite Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh has no diplomatic solution at the present stage.

"The visit and the meeting will take place," Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan told Interfax.

Pashinyan had said earlier on Wednesday that "the issue of Karabakh, at least at this stage and for a very long time starting from this stage, cannot have a diplomatic solution. All such proposals should be considered finished."

It was reported earlier that Mnatsakanyan would meet with Pompeo in Washington on October 23.
