BAKU. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to address the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is possible, but admitted that the parties are currently very far from peaceful settlement because of Yerevan's position.
Asked in an interview with Japanese newspaper Nikkei whether Russian President Vladimir Putin invited him to Moscow to discuss the conflict's settlement, Aliyev replied in the negative, but said top-level negotiations on Karabakh in Moscow are quite possible.
"Of course, it [a trilateral meeting in Moscow] is possible. These kinds of meetings happened before. It depends on what will be the agenda of this kind of meeting. Because with this Armenian government, unfortunately, the prospect for a peaceful settlement is very remote," he said.
