Turkey may be involved in Karabakh settlement only with Yerevan's, Baku's consent - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Third-party countries, including Turkey, may be engaged in the negotiations on settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict only with the consent of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

"As concerns the involvement of third countries in the existing settlement formats, this fully depends on the political will of the parties to the conflict. There are two of them, Azerbaijan and Armenia," Peskov said when asked whether Turkey could be engaged in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process.

"Someone can be involved in the settlement and act as a mediator only with the consent of these two parties," he said.

Peskov acknowledged that the parties are not observing the ceasefire in the conflict zone. "We cannot say so far that the agreements reached earlier on a ceasefire and a humanitarian pause have been observed. Unfortunately, the parties aren't observing them," he said.
