MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The United States' announcing an intention to place shorter- and medium-range missiles in the Asia Pacific is alarming, Russia will respond with measures, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Unfortunately, we have new threats emerging, for example the intentions and the statements of our American partners about possible development of medium- and shorter-range missiles in the Asia Pacific region, which we certainly find alarming, and without a doubt, we will be compelled to undertake something in response, this is a completely obvious fact," Putin said at a plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday.
To which end, it will be necessary to see if something is going to happen, what threats this would create, he said.
"Depending on this, we will take response measures to ensure our security," Putin said.
