National Guard's ex-deputy director Mileiko likely to be released on condition - source

MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - A former deputy director for logistics at Russia's National Guard, Sergei Mileiko, will most likely be released, an informed source told Interfax on Friday.

"The case investigators have decided not to file a court request for his remand in custody. Most likely, Mileiko will be released shortly under the obligation to show up," the source said.

The suspect may have chosen to cooperate with the investigators, he said.

Lieut. Gen. Mileiko was detained last Wednesday on suspicion of financial violations and massive fraud.

National Guard spokesman Valery Gribakin told Interfax that Mileiko had been a subject of an internal inquiry, which led to his sacking in the summer of 2019.
