MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement on efforts toward deescalating the situation in Europe upon the termination of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) continues his consistent line toward easing tensions with regard to issues of strategic stability, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"You know the president made a statement on additional steps toward deescalating the situation in Europe upon the termination of the INF Treaty's effect. It's an important document. President Putin is consistently continuing a line toward multi-pronged de-escalation," Peskov told journalists on Monday.
Putin earlier made a statement on information security, and experts are working on the future of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START), Peskov said.
"In this respect, work on strategic stability is underway. This is an extremely complicated matter," he said.
Putin's statement regarding proposals to maintain strategic stability upon the termination of the INF Treaty was published earlier on Monday.
