MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that he does not know whether Moscow is planning any contacts with Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk, whose party, Opposition Platform - For Life, did well in the recent Ukrainian elections.
"I don't know if there are such plans; clearly, we monitored the vote through media reports. We care about what happens in Ukraine," Peskov told journalists on Monday in response to a question whether the Kremlin is planning any contacts with Medvedchuk.
"As for congratulations, I can't say, I simply don't know," he said.
Speaking of Moscow's decision to lift restrictions on certain Ukrainian enterprises at Medvedchuk's request and the readiness of Russia to provide Kyiv with a coronavirus vaccine, Peskov said, "You know, the thing is, this is the initiative of the political force you just mentioned. In fact, they put forward the initiative, which meets the interests of Ukrainians first of all. Don't Ukrainians fall ill with coronavirus? Don't they need to be vaccinated? Most probably, they do. Clearly, this is what this political force is offering."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian enterprises are experiencing economic difficulties due to the lack of economic contacts with Russia, Peskov said. "There's no doubt that many enterprises are experiencing difficulties. So, in this case, the initiative received Russia's understanding," he said.
