Azerbaijani army strikes maternity hospital in Stepanakert - self-proclaimed NKR

YEREVAN/BAKU. Oct 28 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Armed Forces have delivered a strike on a maternity hospital in Stepanakert, the capital of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), the Nagorno-Karabakh information center said on Wednesday.

"A strike has been delivered on a maternity hospital in Stepanakert. Information on casualties is being updated," the center said.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that information on the shelling of a maternity hospital in Stepanakert by Azerbaijani troops is not true.

"The Armenian media's report on the alleged shelling of a maternity hospital in Khankendi [Azerbaijani name for Stepanakert] by the Azerbaijan Army is deliberate misinformation," the Defense Ministry said.

"By spreading this information, the enemy is trying to divert attention from the recent war crimes committed by him in Barda city, which resulted in numerous casualties," the ministry said.

The Azerbaijani authorities earlier reported that Armenian troops had opened fire on the Azerbaijani city of Barda, killing 19 people and wounding 60.

The Armenian Defense Ministry does not confirm Azerbaijan's statement on Armenian strikes on the Azerbaijani city of Barda.
