No reason to change Normandy format of Donbas talks - Ukrainian FM

KYIV. Oct 28 (Interfax) - There is no reason to change the Normandy format of negotiations on settling the conflict in Donbas, which involves France, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine, as it is functioning, but this does not mean that Ukraine is opposed to engaging other actors to promote agreements within the framework of the Normandy format, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

"If someone is not formally part of the Normandy format, this doesn't mean that they aren't involved in this process in one important form or another. This concerns the European Union and the United States. I don't see any reason now to change the Normandy format, as it's functioning," Kuleba said in an interview with Interfax.

"It's always been rough; it's never functioned easily or vigorously, but it does exist, and agreements should be sought within this circle. But this doesn't mean that we aren't engaging other actors to promote these agreements," he said.

Everything positive that has been achieved during the peaceful settlement in Donbas, including the ceasefire, the return of Ukrainian prisoners, and the return of the ships detained by Russia in the Kerch Strait, has been achieved in the Normandy format, Kuleba said.
