BAKU. Oct 28 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had phone talks with all of the three co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on Wednesday and discussed Armenia's missile strikes on the city of Barda with them.
"The Azerbaijani foreign minister had phone talks with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, namely, Igor Popov of Russia, Andrew Schofer of the U.S., and Stephane Visconti of France. Bayramov briefed the mediators on a gross violation of the humanitarian ceasefire by Armenia, and the strikes on the city of Barda on October 27-28, which inflicted numerous civilian casualties," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Bayramov called for condemning war crimes against Azerbaijani civilians who reside far from the conflict zone.
"The co-chairs said they are concerned by the deaths of civilians and stressed the importance of de-escalation in the region and reaching a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the Foreign Ministry said.
As earlier reported in Baku, four people were killed and 13 wounded in the missile strike on the city of Barda on October 27.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on Wednesday Armenian troops conducted an attack on the city of Barda using Smerch multiple launch rocket systems. According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, 21 civilians were killed and over 70 people wounded as a result of the attack.
The Armenian Defense Ministry, in turn, does not confirm Azerbaijani statements on Armenian attacks on Azerbaijan's Barda.
