Belarus's presidential election a matter for its people and leaders, Russia not interfering - Putin

MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) - Russia is not interfering in the issue of holding a fresh presidential election in Belarus; this will be decided by the country's people and leadership, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"In regard to the possibility [of holding] or not holding a presidential election in Belarus: this must be determined by the Belarusian people themselves and by the leadership of Belarus. We stay out of such matters," Putin said during the "Russia Calling" forum organized by VTB Capital.

In his opinion, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has already made a considerable concession to his opponents by not ruling out changes to the Constitution.
