Russia to create training range for cyber security specialists - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Russia will soon create a cyber-training range for information security specialists, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

"There are plans to soon create a cyber-range for training specialists on information security under the Information Security federal project. It's really to become a serious model, a full-fledged infrastructure," Medvedev said at a meeting on the implementation of federal and sectoral projects using artificial intelligence.

The continuing pandemic also proved that prospects of the AI use were huge, he said.

"This has probably become more evident in this poignant situation. Today Russian digital solutions actively facilitate the fight against coronavirus infection," Medvedev said.

The AI technology will be getting more attention and tasks each year "and, consequently, more and more challenges will arise to national security. We are perfectly aware of that, but that is no reason to bloc relevant work; on the contrary, all the more reason to do it with doubled energy and particular understanding," Medvedev said.

He was talking about creating a reliable system for protecting people, business and the state from various information threats, including cyber fraud - the problems that have aggravated during the pandemic.

"Our main task in this area is to achieve extensive production of sought-after domestic IT services and relevant IT products," he said.
