BAKU. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan opposes thirds parties' participation in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and sees no grounds for it, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
"We don't want to involve any third country [in the conflict]. We also see no possibly of any country's involvement, because all neighboring countries are our partners and friends," Aliyev said in an interview with the German broadcaster ARD.
The Azerbaijani leader said he is confident that Armenia is trying to involve several neighboring countries in the conflict. "However, it won't happen, I'm sure. This is a war between us and Armenia and the rest must stay away from it," the president said.
Turkey's F-16 fighter jets are in Azerbaijan, but they have not been used in the fighting in Karabakh, Aliyev said. "They [the F-16] are in Baku as a sign of solidarity. They have not participated in any fighting and their participation is not planned," the Azerbaijani leader said.
The fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone is continuing now, despite three attempts to conclude a "humanitarian truce." Both parties to the conflict are reportedly sustaining losses, both in terms of troops and equipment.
On Friday, Armenia and Azerbaijan reached agreements following talks of their foreign ministers and the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in Geneva that the parties would not deliberately attack civilians or non-military facilities in accordance with international humanitarian law.
