Azerbaijani president accuses Armenia of using prohibited weapons in attacks on Azerbaijani cities (Part 2)

BAKU. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Armenian forces are regularly launching attacks on Azerbaijani populated localities using prohibited weapons, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"Armenia fired over 200 rounds at our populated localities between 6:00 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. today," Aliyev said at a meeting with Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (also known as the Turkic Council, CCTSS) Baghdad Amreyev in Baku.

Since September 27, Armenian attacks have killed 91 Azerbaijani civilians, including ten children, have wounded 404 people, and have destroyed over 2,000 homes.

"Armenian forces are using prohibited weapons in order to maximize civilian casualties. The battlefield is where we take revenge; I keep saying that we are taking revenge only on the battlefield," Aliyev said.

During the military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan, in turn, has demonstrated respect toward the proposals put forth by international mediators and three times agreed to a ceasefire, he said.

"And Armenia grossly violated the ceasefires three times. The first time was when it fired a ballistic missile on Ganja, the second time was several minutes after the ceasefire entered into force, and the third time was when it fired a Smerch missile on Barda. The launch of two missiles on Ganja killed some 30 civilians, and more than 20 civilians were killed in Barda. This is the disgusting face of Armenian fascism," Aliyev said.

The Azerbaijani and Armenian Defense Ministries traded accusations last Saturday of using prohibited munitions containing white phosphorous. Baku and Yerevan rejected the other party's claim.
