MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - The crew of the Pavel Derzhavin patrol ship built for Russia's Black Sea Fleet has checked the serviceability of air defense systems as part of the state sea trials, the fleet press service said in a statement.
"Air defense crews of the Pavel Derzhavin ship have checked the serviceability of all air defense systems and have practiced the algorithm of tracking, following, locking, and destroying a mock enemy using the ship's weapons," the press service said.
A Sukhoi Su-30SM fighter jet from the Black Sea Fleet's marine aviation and air defense took part in the trials, it said.
"The Su-30SM posed as the mock enemy and imitated an approach for airstrike," the press service said.
Once the trials are over, the Pavel Derzhavin will join the forces of the Black Sea Fleet's Novorossiysk naval base.
The Su-30SM fighter of generation 4+ and the Su-24 frontline bomber are products of the Sukhoi Design Bureau of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC)' Sukhoi Company.
Su-30SM is designed to win air superiority, to block rear airfields of the enemy, and to destroy airborne, surface, and marine targets in any time of the day and in any weather.
