Court arrests two Hizb ut-Tahrir members detained in Kazan on terrorism suspicions

KAZAN. Nov 6 (Interfax) - The Vakhitovsky District Court in Kazan arrested two out of five detained members of the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir terrorist organization on Friday, a court officer told Interfax.

The court is currently hearing investigators' motion for arresting the rest of the suspects in a closed meeting away from press, the officer said.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) said earlier that five members of the Hizt ut-Tahrir terrorist organization banned in Russia have been detained in Kazan over attempts to recruit Tatarstan's Muslims.

A considerable amount of Hizb ut-Tahrir propaganda materials, communications equipment and electronic storage devices the suspects used in their terrorist activities were found and seized from their places of residence.

An informed source said that one of the suspects had been charged under Part 1 Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code (organizing the activity of a terrorist organization), and the other four had been charged under Part 2 Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code (participation in the activity of a terrorist organization).
