Ceasefire stands in Donbas, but with mutual breaches - ICRC

DONETSK. Nov 6 (Interfax) - The ceasefire in Donbas stands, but there are also ceasefire breaches on both sides of the contact line, Peter Maurer, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), told reporters on Friday.

The current ceasefire stands and the number of people killed in action has decreased dramatically, but ceasefire breaches continue on both sides and all hostilities are affecting the population, Maurer, who visited the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), said.

The ICRC president also spoke about progress in the search for missing people. The work to expand the capabilities of the agencies that are working on this issue continues, as well as the work to create a unified coordination system, Maurer said.

The meetings with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and the heads of the self-proclaimed republics (the DPR and the LPR) were positive, he said. They addressed a number of important issues associated with penitentiary facilities, missing people, and other vital social issues, Maurer said.

On Tuesday, Maurer met in Kyiv with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, who asked the ICRC president for assistance in receiving the lists of prisoners from the other side for an exchange in Donbas using the "all for all" formula.
