MOSCOW. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Russian peacekeeping troops deployed to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone have established direct communication channels with the General Staffs of the Azerbaijani and Armenian Armed Forces with the aim of preventing potential incidents and ensuring the peacekeepers' security, head of the Russian General Staff's Main Operative Directorate Sergei Rudskoi said.
"Continuous interaction has been organized with the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia in order to fulfill the peacekeeping mission, prevent possible incidents, and ensure the security of the Russian servicemen. Direct communication channels have been set up," Rudskoi said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
"Work to specify the parameters of the peacekeeping operation has been organized together with the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides," he said.
The General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, "has deployed a combat control group in charge of round-the-clock monitoring of the situation," he said.
"The General Staff has planned all necessary measures to ensure the security of the Russian servicemen. The personnel of the peacekeeping contingent realize the whole responsibility of their tasks and stand ready to fulfill them in strict compliance with the achieved agreements," Rudskoi said.
