Putin praises high level of control elements of Russia's strategic nuclear forces (Part 2)

SOCHI. Nov 11 (Interfax) - All elements of control of the Russian strategic nuclear forces have been maintained at the proper level, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"I'll say that a lot has been done in the past years to make sure that all elements of control of the strategic nuclear forces are maintained at the highest level," Putin said at a conference with the top leaders of the Russian Defense Ministry, federal agencies, and defense industry enterprises on Wednesday.

"Stationary and mobile control centers have been significantly modernized, their analytical and operational capabilities have been enhanced, including those related to informational support, situation monitoring and analysis, and the quality of such a critical parameter as interference resistance has grown," Putin said.

"All control centers are currently capable of receiving comprehensive information on the situation in real time, assessing the situation based on this information, and making substantiated decisions," he said.

"It's important to make sure that all equipment, hardware, and communications of the nuclear forces control systems continue to be modern, simple, and reliable like the Kalashnikov assault rifle, that they are enhanced in an orderly manner and that they be based on advanced domestic technology and engineering solutions," Putin said.

"The combat capability of the nuclear triad and the Army and Navy's capability to properly and rapidly respond to potential military threats depend directly on how steadily, efficiently, and reliably these systems and the entire control circuit work in any situation," he said.
