Members of Dashnaktsutyun, Homeland opposition parties detained in Yerevan

YEREVAN. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Armenia's National Security Service has detained another three opposition leaders, Dashnaktsutyun opposition party spokesperson Lilit Galstyan said at a press briefing on Thursday.

"Officers of the National Security Service came to the office of the Dashnaktsutyun party today and detained party representative Artsvik Minasyan," she said at a press briefing on Thursday.

Homeland Party member Arsen Babayan and opposition activist Ara Akopyan have also been detained, Galstyan said.

"We regard these actions as political persecution," she said.

Public unrest and protests broke out in Yerevan on November 10 after Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev adopted a trilateral statement on a ceasefire and deployment of peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. The statement also stipulates a handover of several areas in the region to Azerbaijan. Some people in Armenia interpreted the move as an unjustified decision to capitulate and demanded Pashinyan resign.
