MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General Stanislav Zas and acting Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov discussed the situation in Kyrgyzstan in a telephone call on Thursday.
"The acting Kyrgyz president informed [the CSTO secretary general] of the current situation in the country and addressed some issues related to the preparations for the presidential election scheduled for January 10, 2021," a statement on the CSTO website said.
Japarov "mentioned the CSTO's important role in maintaining peace and stability within its area of responsibility and declared the continuity of the state course toward bolstering cooperation within the organization's format, particularly highlighting the need for further coordinated and resolute steps to oppose terrorism," the statement said.
"During the conversation, the acting president of Kyrgyzstan also emphasized the importance of broadening interaction between CSTO member states in opposing the coronavirus pandemic," it said.
