Russian, Chinese FMs discuss bilateral partnership, Belarus, Central Asia, Iranian nuclear deal

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese State Council member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi talked over the phone on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The foreign ministers "compared notes on topical issues on the international agenda, in particular, the current situation in Belarus and Central Asian countries, as well as issues of preserving the Iranian nuclear deal," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

"The parties exchanged opinions on the current state of the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership, which is continuing to develop steadily amid the complicated economic, sanitary, and epidemiological conditions," the statement said.

The interlocutors focused on the schedule of upcoming contacts at the top and high levels, as well as specific issues of practical cooperation in a bilateral format and while implementing the agreements reached by the two countries' leaders on the alignment of the development plans of the Eurasian Economic Union and China's One Belt, One Road initiative.

"The ministers said they are pleased with the close coordination between Russia and China on multilateral platforms, above all, in the United Nations, its Security Council and its Human Rights Council, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and in the BRICS format," the statement said.
