Luhansk says does not see any steps from Kyiv towards preparing prisoner swap

LUHANSK. Nov 19 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) representative in the humanitarian working group of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine (TCG) Olga Kobtseva has denied Kyiv's reports alleging that a prisoner swap would be accomplished in Donbas before December 24.

"As of this date, Ukraine has done nothing at least to begin the discussion of the list of persons who could be freed consistent with the earlier agreements," Kobtseva told reporters on Thursday.

Ukraine "fully blocked the issue" in January 2020, she said.

"After the swap of December 2019, Ukraine has not provided us with any information about a single person missing in the Ukrainian territory," Kobtseva said.

"It's total absurdity to speak about the December 24 exchange," she said.

Information policy advisor of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Oleksiy Arestovych said earlier that Kyiv was planning to swap prisoners with the self-proclaimed Donbas republics before December 24.
