YEREVAN. Nov 20 (Interfax) - David Tonoyan, who was relieved of defense minister duties on Friday, has called for de-escalating tensions in Armenia.
"It is necessary to de-escalate tensions. I'd like my resignation to be viewed in the context of this particular logic," the ministry press service quoted Tonoyan as saying in his statement on Friday.
Tonoyan said he cherished the memory of soldiers who died in Nagorno-Karabakh and apologized to those whose hopes he failed to justify.
"Still, I do not think that my service to the people is over," Tonoyan said.
