MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has used the Portal system to create an encrypted information space to discuss defense issues with members of regional authorities, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"The information exchange with Russian constituent territories has been established via the Portal system. For the first time, an encrypted information space has been created for communication between various levels of authority," Shoigu said at an interagency scientific and practical conference.
The interagency communication system passed the stress test of 2020 events and received further development, Shoigu said. New forms and methods of interaction were elaborated, and "a higher level of rapid response and cohesion was achieved," he said.
Shoigu described the containment of the coronavirus epidemic as a task of national significance and gave the example of multifunctional medical centers successfully built and operating in regions, as well as mobile hospitals deployed in hotspots of the infection.
"Social issues of servicemen and their families are being successfully addressed in collaboration with the regional authorities. The fulfillment of a broad range of tasks required the coordinated approach and proactive attitude of the authorities," Shoigu said.
Much attention is given to the implementation of the state armament program, which undergoes daily monitoring, and the military patriotic education of the younger generation, Shoigu said.
He also mentioned humanitarian and practical assistance provided to foreign partners.
