MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has sent two humanitarian convoys to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the press service for the Emergency Situations Ministry told reporters.
"The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is sending the first humanitarian convoys to Nagorno-Karabakh on November 20. Construction materials for the restoration of social infrastructure and housing in affected communities will be delivered via special transport," the press service said, adding that two such humanitarian convoys have been sent.
The ministry has formed two motorcades that will take cargo to Stepanakert, the press service said.
"A group from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, in collaboration with municipal officials, is continuing to assess the damage done as inspections of damaged buildings are carried out in Stepanakert, Martakert, Martuni, and Askeran. Forty-three populated areas have now been checked, more than 2,600 facilities have been inspected, including more than 2,400 residential buildings, including apartment buildings, and more than 220 socially significant facilities," the press service said.
Communications specialists from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's mobile command point, in collaboration with local rescuers, have installed at a high point in Stepanakert an ultrashort wave transmitter and special equipment to provide the Russian rescuers with radio communications.
