MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - According to the preliminary figures, about 90,000 Armenians have left the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh for Armenia, and some 45,000 Azerbaijanis have also left the region as a result of the hostilities there, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"It's important to compile accurate statistics on the number of people in need through the [UN] Commissioner for Refugees. According to estimates, this includes about 90,000 people who left for Armenia and some 45,000 Azerbaijanis who left the areas adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh amid the fighting," Lavrov said at a meeting on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
