Russian emergency situations minister predicts prompt return of 30,000 refugees to Karabakh, says existing infrastructure can accommodate 5,000

MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - More than 30,000 displaced persons may return to Nagorno-Karabakh soon, Russian Emergency Situations Minister Yevgeny Zinichev said.

"At this point, we're expecting a significant number of displaced persons to arrive in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to various estimates, their number could reach 30,000, while the existing infrastructure can accommodate about 5,000 people," Zinichev said at a meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

Several options, including the construction of residential modules and fast-built structures, are being studied in terms of finding ways to accommodate the rest of the population, Zinichev said.
