YEREVAN. Nov 23 (Interfax) - The Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) on Saturday reported on another 41 troops killed in the fighting against Azerbaijani units in the Karabakh conflict zone.
According to updated information provided by the NKR Defense Ministry, the Defense Army of the self-proclaimed Karabakh has lost 1,678 troops since September 27.
Armenian Health Minister Arsen Torosyan told reporters on November 18 that forensic evaluations had been performed on the bodies of 2,425 troops killed in the Karabakh war. He said 250 bodies had not been identified yet.
According to the Armenian authorities, not all casualties have been put on the lists of casualties of the Defense Ministry.
The Azerbaijani Armed Forces began hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone on September 27. In the late hours of November 9, Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia adopted a trilateral statement on a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh and on the installation in the region of Russian peacekeepers, and also on the transfer of some districts in the region to Azerbaijan. People in Armenia took that as capitulation.
