YEREVAN. Nov 23 (Interfax) - Russia is committed to the need to resolve humanitarian issues and the issues of refuges in Nagorno-Karabakh after signing the trilateral statement of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We have issues related to the need to resolve problems which emerged around Nagorno-Karabakh at the forefront. The statement of November 9 provides an opportunity to resolve all these issues on the basis of agreements recorded in the written form and signed by the three leaders. First and foremost, this applies to the return of refugees and all humanitarian issues in the current situation. We are committed to it," Lavrov said at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Russia encourages international organization to help Nagorno-Karabakh residents more actively, Lavrov said.
"In addition to the role played by the peacekeepers, the interagency center created at an order of [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin is already starting work, it'll also monitor these issues," the Russian foreign minister said.
The entire range of bilateral relations to be addressed during the visit of the Russian interagency delegation to Armenia, he said.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev adopted a trilateral statement on a ceasefire and the deployment of peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 10. The statement also stipulates a handover of several areas in the region to Azerbaijan and the deployment of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
